Our NSA is slightly better than 50% at verifying their eavesdropping target is foreign. Perhaps that explains why the Boston Marathon bombers were successful in carrying out their plot. The FBI & CIA weren’t satisfied the Russians gave enough detailed information concerning Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokhar. The Russian tip concerned Tamerlan Tsarnaev being seen with a known Jihadist terrorist six times in 2011. Lawmakers defend FBI after Russian terrorist tip fails to heighten surveillance.

The Difference Amongst Us

Boston marathon mile 25 050418 cropped

I’ve thought about the tragedy that occurred during the Boston Marathon yesterday. Many of you have as well.

It seems there are always people living amongst us willing to harm others. It’s most often carried out in the name of some irrational ideology or thought process which a sane person would immediately understand as despicable.

Marathon bombings bear similarities to IED attacks

Even though the perpetrator(s) haven’t been caught as of this writing, I’m reasonably sure before this act was conceived, planned and acted upon, the perpetrators  thoughts justified the act. This would have occurred over an extended period of time and as the individual(s) thought more about their purposes, the decision to carry out such an act was totally within their frame of mind and they considered it fully justifiable.

Our current societal frame of reference views this in the correct context, as an act of calculated cold-blooded violence. It is inexcusable, however you can go back over recent history and see how other terrorist acts were rationalized by those that conceived them and acted upon their thoughts. They live among us today and for inexplicable reasons they are honored and accepted as worthy members in our society.

Of course they justify their pernicious acts, but in the end they are acts of terror designed to disrupt, bring forth chaos and in their view, bring about positive change. I for one can not see it this way, nor should any rational thinking person. I hope we never get to the point of honoring those who carried out this act of violence as we saw in yesterday’s Boston Marathon.
