Cooler Heads Prevail

Concern over safety of the public and officers on location have motivated a settlement in Nevada.

In what seems like a story where no one was going to walk away with an understanding and a sense of being right, the latest news from the Nevada ranchers vs. BLM standoff is, a reasoned approach was taken.

According to local news, the Bureau of Land Management announced it will stop the roundup of cattle owned by rancher Cliven Bundy. The BLM will pull out based on a deal brokered by Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie. It’s good to see adults have entered the process. I’m sure there’s going to be some legal maneuvering and challenges for a while but the federal government is taking a sensible position rather than escalate hostilities.

Perhaps some people have understood the past mistakes using heavy-handed tactics such as in Waco, TX or Ruby Ridge. Either way, I’m happy to see cooler heads prevail.
