The New Government Math

Federal government releases long-awaited health reform rules.

Right now, about 48 million Americans go without health insurance, according to the Census Bureau. That’s more than 15 percent of the population. About 55 percent of Americans are covered through an employer; 31 percent have a public insurance plan such as Medicare or Medicaid, and 10 percent buy their own health insurance.

The percentages total –
15+ no insurance
55 receive insurance through employer
31 public insurance (Medicare – Medicaid)
10 buy their own insurance
—–
111%  Sorry, you can’t have more than 100%.

Feds give states a last-minute break on insurance marketplaces.

Republican governors had been complaining about the Nov. 16 deadline to file their formal decision with the Health and Human Services Department, mostly because HHS has not yet told them what a federal exchange would look like.

They don’t know what it costs, they don’t know the specifics of what the plan(s) cover… You mean some people are questioning the all-knowing Oz? The audacity of those governors.
